Best Weapons to Use with Prismatic in Destiny 2: The Final Shape (2024)

The Final Shape is here in Destiny 2, and with it comes the Prismatic subclass, a mashup of every other subclass in the game, whether Light or Dark. At Prismatic’s core is Transcendence, which relies on you dealing Light and Dark damage to activate. That’s why you’ll need to know the best weapons to use with the new hotness so you can have it up as often as possible.

Note: This list will evolve as we discover and use more weapons in The Final Shape expansion, especially after the Raid is complete.

The Best Weapons for Prismatic in Destiny 2: The Final Shape

One of Prismatic’s two main mechanics, Transcendence, relies on you doing both Light and Dark damage to activate. That means Solar, Arc, or Void damage for Light and Strand or Stasis damage for Dark. Moreover, you’ll want to have those damage types in relatively equal parts, so the best weapons for Prismatic will either have some combination of the two damage types or work well with the same.

Conditional Finality Exotic Shotgun

Oh, look, it’s my favorite gun, now somehow even more useful. Yes, the Conditional Finality Exotic Shotgun is a fantastic complement to Prismatic for all the reasons you think. It deals both Stasis (Dark) and Solar (Light) damage depending on which shell you’re firing, and you can queue up whichever you need either by shooting once (for Solar) or reloading (for Stasis).

Conditional Finality Exotic Shotgun is also one of the best anti-Champion weapons in the game — for both Unstoppable and Barrier Champions.

Gjallarhorn Exotic Rocket Launcher

I’m becoming a broken record, but I will fight to the death over how nice it is to have Gjallarhorn in your inventory. While it can only deal Light-element damage, its power and utility are such that it fits into any loadout or playstyle you can imagine. It’s great for add clear, boss damage while playing solo or with a team and every other situation you can think of. Is it the best at all those things? No, but it is very good at all of them and will never leave you wanting for a solid all-around weapon.

Outbreak Perfected Exotic Pulse Rifle

Outbreak Perfected made its triumphant return during the Into the Light update, and if you prefer to play as safely as possible without sacrificing too much potential DPS, it remains a top-tier pick. Even without the catalyst or any of the upgrades, its damage output is solid, and you have infinite ammo to spend from as far a distance as you’re comfortable standing.

Riptide and Deliverance Fusion Rifles

Another set of iconic anti-Champion weapons, both Riptide and Deliverance, are Stasis weapons, giving you easy access to Dark damage, solid supplementary DPS, and plenty of Stasis Slow and Shatter effects. With the new perks and abilities that come with Stasis in The Final Shape, having either weapon available will only be a benefit. Deliverance is a bit harder to come by, being a weapon from the Vow of the Disciple Raid, but you can get Riptide from Shaxx for way cheaper.

Edge Transit

The refreshed Edge Transit from Into the Light, still available via the Onslaught playlist, is, by some act of God, actually an endgame-DPS monster and not just a giant meme. And even if you don’t have the god roll (Envious Assassin and Bait and Switch), it has plenty of utility in add clear and general damage output. As a Void weapon, it’s good for getting the Light side of Transcendence up.

Zaoli’s Bane, Sunshot, or Midnight Coup Hand Cannons

Best Weapons to Use with Prismatic in Destiny 2: The Final Shape (6)

Any of these Hand Cannons is more than worth using if you have Solar abilities with Prismatic, though Sunshot was on the receiving end of a minor but still noticeable nerf. You can still build into a few Solar effects, particularly with your armor mods, as those aren’t dictated by Prismatic.

Most engagements in The Final Shape are at or around mid-range, meaning any high-quality Hand Cannon will work wonders. Midnight Coup, being purely Kinetic, gives it the ability to keep your Transcendence up by filling in whichever bar needs more progress.

Polaris Lance Exotic Scout Rifle

The Polaris Lance is in the same ballpark as Outbreak Perfected, letting you deal good damage from a distance and activate Ignitions as a bonus. It’s also very consistent without its Exotic catalyst and technically easier to come by as you can get it randomly from an Exotic Engram or get it via the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower.

Hammerhead or Commemoration Machine Guns

You will be facing plenty of Tormentors in The Final Shape, and having a high volume of good precision damage will come in very handy. And both Hammerhead and the Commemoration offer both of those in spades. Additionally, the fact that you can get Hammerhead from Onslaught fairly easily is a nice touch. Commemoration, being locked behind the Deep Stone Crypt Raid, is a bit harder to come by, but if you can get it with a good roll, it’s a beast.

Those are all of my best weapons to use with Prismatic, and most of them played at least some role in carrying my sorry behind through the Legendary campaign. For more on Destiny 2 and much more on the Final Shape in the coming days, check out our D2 guides hub.
