What are quiet hours for UO housing? ›

Students have a right to sleep and study in their residence halls. Therefore, disruptive or loud noise is prohibited. Minimum quiet hours are Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m., and Friday and Saturday, midnight to 10:00 a.m. Modified Quiet Hours will be in place before and during finals.

Beginning in December, as soon as you are admitted to the UO, you can fill out your housing registration, make your initial housing payment, and sign your housing contract, all online. The earlier you sign up for housing, the more choices you will have when selecting your room.

All incoming first-year undergraduate students are required to live on campus. Living on campus for at least your first year is a significant advantage that contributes to your success at the University of Oregon. You will be part of a community and make connections with other students, faculty, and staff.

Register for Housing

Research your housing and dining options. Browse and request roommates starting in June in your My Housing portal. Select your room! You will be assigned a room selection date and time based on you and your roommate's registration dates and if you are in a community.

What are considered reasonable noise levels in an apartment? Most noise ordinances prohibit excessive noise between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. on weekdays and 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. on weekends. During the day, residents have the right to enjoy quiet in their units.

Reasonable accommodations are changes in rules, practices, or services that the landlord can reasonably make that give equal access to renters with disabilities. If your disability limits your ability to keep, enter, or use a rental home or common area, you may ask the landlord for a reasonable accommodation.

Contact the individual housing community you are interested in. Obtain a list of properties from your local PHA. Wait lists are usually at least a year.

Rolling admission notification: Students will be notified of their admission decision on a rolling basis beginning in October. Students who apply by the November 1 Early Action deadline will receive a response by December 15. Students who apply by the January 15 deadline can expect a decision by April 1.

The rooms are not air-conditioned. Portable air conditioning units are not allowed within the residence halls, but guest are welcome to bring a small portable fan. Are bed and bath linens provided? Rooms are provided with sheets, blankets, pillows and towels.

After 11:00 PM on weeknights and 1:00 AM on weekends, and lasting until 8:00 AM, residents must contain noise in their rooms and in the public areas of the Houses at levels which will not prevent other residents from studying or sleeping.

Private Property

Generally, work is allowed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sundays. Any work outside of these time frames requires approval of the City Manager. Requests should be made to the Building Department who issued the permit.

Within the Salem-Keizer Urban Growth Boundary: it is unlawful to knowingly create any noise disturbance or sound plainly audible within any dwelling unit other than the source between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. the following day.
