  • Learning Experiences - In addition to development coming from activities on the job, other ways to learn are through experiential opportunities, Udemy courses, and programs in Workday Learning.

Gigs

Gigs empower Expedians to explore new projects, and even join new teams.

  • Project gigs are short-term development experiences that offer the opportunity to enhance existing skills or acquire new ones through project-based work. Expedians work with another team for up to 20% of their time over a period of up to 6 months.
  • Rotation gigs are full-time experiences where Expedians temporarily step into a new job, assume different role expectations, and work with a new team for a duration of 6-12 months.These experiences can be a game-changer, providing Expedians with the chance to gain valuable insights. They serve as stepping stones that can unlock longer-term career goals.

I successfully completed three gigs across teams during my internship, through which I was able to get a better picture of how different tools and products interact with each other. It was a great opportunity to explore different technologies and languages, such as Java, Python, AWS, React, and more.

While I’ve learned that allyship is a lifelong learning journey, I’ve found the allyship training at Expedia Group hugely valuable. I’ve learned that ‘ally’ is not a noun; it’s a verb, so it’s really important we take action. Being an ally is not always easy, comfortable, or convenient, but it’s really important that we stand up when we witness inequality or mistreatment.
