Krista was sitting in a corner of the waiting room, furthest away from anyone as possible with her old classmates sitting on the other side. Watching the closest monitor to her, she witnessed Ackermann regenerate from that near-life-threatening wound. She tightened her grip on her jacket as she found out about the goth girl's new healing factor.
'Are you serious? How can she be able to regenerate like that? I've never seen anyone else have a similar healing factor since…'
Someone crossed her mind. Dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, tan skin. But there was one feature that was always recognizable. It was the freckles that were spread throughout her nose and cheeks. Speaking of her, Krista was sort of curious about where she went. The only thing that she did before she left was send a text saying 'Good Luck' and she never saw her again since. She reached for her phone in her jacket pocket until she thought more about the text.
'Hmm… perhaps she's doing the test in Marley since she also texted me to wish her some luck as well. I don't know why she didn't do the test here. Her presence would have benefited me greatly since I find her much more tactful than Reiner. I'm guessing she wanted more of a challenge since more people tend to take the test on the mainland rather than here.'
She remembered that Ymir at least told her about the reasoning behind her healing factor as a part of her Meta-ability which in terms of the Beastia category, she had hit the jackpot.
She was sort of jealous that her Meta-ability did not allow her to have a healing factor or maybe it could…she hasn't gained access to all of her ancestors' weapons and perhaps one of them could give her the ability to heal but she heavily doubt that any weapons could have the power or at least do anything magical.
But she knew that Mikasa's power did not allow her to regenerate, so how could she even do that? Jean, Sasha or Connie's ability has regeneration included. So unless it's some genetic anomaly, it's impossible for anyone to have more than one ability.
Krista took out a bag of jelly beans that she had in her pocket before she opened the bag and took out a green one. When she ate it, it gave off a bit of a sour taste before slowly turning sweet.
'Mmm, green apple…' She hummed as she enjoyed the taste.
She started to sway from side to side as she continued to hum an old tune before she placed another jelly bean in her mouth. This time, the taste was bitter, making Krista's mouth twisted in disgust.
'Coffee.'
"There you are."
She turned to see Reiner standing next to her with his arms folded. His brows were furrowed as if someone else pissed him off.
"Is there an issue?"
"Yeah, he has dirty hair and is playing truth or dare right now."
She heard laughter as she saw the hoodlum with his black and white hair tied in pigtails. She actually chuckled a bit at his new hairstyle.
"Unbelievable. And I have to work with that fool," Krista shook his head.
"Rather have him than a nerd who can hardly fight."
Krista looked in her jelly bean bag to see a mixture of brown beans, red beans, yellow beans, blue beans, green beans and white beans.
'The brown ones must be coffee,' Krista thought as she took out the brown ones and placed them on the seat next to her.
"Nerd? You have Armin on your team?" she snickered. "Good luck. I think that he is the weakest one in this room. Who else is on your team?"
"I have Floch and some skinny stranger."
'It appears that luck is on my side then. I have two of the strongest classmates on my team. Floch is slightly above average at best and Armin is bottom of the barrel in terms of athleticism. However, he is one of the smartest ones and that could be advantageous, but will his type of intellect aid him against a monster?'
"This sucks," Reiner complained. "What the hell did I do to deserve this? Floch is not even fully recovered yet, so his flight speed will slow down." He rubbed his head. "Anyways, enough about my issues. Are you okay?"
"I'm okay. Why?"
"You know, after that big argument, you were in the restroom for a while and I-"
"I would rather not speak on it. What does he know? He doesn't know the reasoning behind my attendance here," she said with the anger in her tone slowly rising. "Ugh, if i was permitted to hit him, I would, but I need him to be at peak performance if I want the best chance to pass."
Reiner sat down at the seat directly across from her. "I don't know how you're able to control yourself like that. I would've hit him.That f*cker called me an asskisser.I hope there's an event that we have to fight each other so I can beat the sh*t out of him."
'That would be an interesting fight to see. We barely ever had the chance to fight one against one at our full power in combat school and since we got stronger since then I wonder who will win now. A one vs one event did occur in the previous tests that I've seen, so if it does I won't be surprised if it occurs once more for this year's examination.'
Krista took out a red jelly bean and ate it, giving her taste buds some sweetness with a pinch of sourness.
"Cherry."
"What?"
"Oh, nothing. I'm just guessing the flavour of these jelly beans."
"Testing your brain?"
Krista nodded. She liked to do this whenever she got candy that contained a variety of flavours. Besides training, studying or playing piano for her father's ballroom parties, there wasn't much she could do at home so she would try out different candy flavours for fun. She's a bit surprised that her teeth are still white, and lack cavities.
"Mikasa keeps living up to her name more and more," Reiner said. "Now, she could regenerate her wounds. I wonder if the other twin could do it too. Wouldn't mind testing that theory."
"Calm yourself," Krista demanded. "Put that anger to the test when it is your turn, instead of complaining about void insults from a government child."
Reiner laughed. "That name never gets old. You're right. I can't lose my focus. Speaking of passing, it seems that Ackermann and her team encountered the monster."
'And the monster seems exhausted.'
Krista noticed that the monster was breathing heavily with thick strings of drool going down its chin, dried blood covering half of its face its eye punctured and one of its nails cut off.
"They did a number on it," Reiner said, sounding a bit astonished. "To be honest, I thought that they weren't going to get this far at all."
'They weren't going to until Mikasa pulled that ace up her sleeve. She's easily the strongest one of the group and they wouldn't be this confident if she was still bleeding by a tree.'
Krista randomly took another jelly bean. The taste was bitter, finding out that she hadn't taken out all of them.
